By drawing attention to the interesting physical characteristics on each project site, and by arranging the required functions in an attractive manner, each facility takes on a character of its own. Below is an excellent example of rooftop courts lit up at night without lighting up the hotel.
The Waverly - South Beach, Florida
Another successfully completed rehabilitation of the damaged rooftop court at the Waverly, a luxury condominium complex in the “chic” South Beach section of Miami Beach. Although only recently constructed using conventional techniques, the tennis surface had failed and could no longer be used for regular play. Global was engaged to survey the damaged court and to develop a surface specification that would solve the surface buckling and erosion problems as well as provide a deluxe, cushioned playing surface for the condominium owners.
Town Tennis Club - New York City
The Town Tennis Member Club in New York is one of the oldest rooftop clubs in Manhattan. It was originally clay, then converted to a cushioned court, then to a hard court and most recently to a modern sub-surface irrigated HydroGrid court. The membership has grown to capacity since the conversion to HydroGrid and the renovation of the club house, both completed in 1999-2000.
